On listening
July 2026The body knows first
Long before the mind finds the words, the body has already spoken — in a held breath, a clenched jaw, a sudden ease. Somatic work is simply learning to listen to what was said a long time ago.
We treat the body like a messenger we'd rather ignore — until it gets loud enough that we have no choice. But what if we listened sooner? What if the tightness in your chest wasn't a problem to fix, but information to receive?
This is the practice. Not to override the body, but to let it speak, and to trust that what it knows has been true for longer than you've had words for it.
